[reprinted from a monthly Gracenotes email] I should clarify: don’t use your cat pictures for marketing unless you can prove he/she has a direct role in your business (this does not include client leg rubs or soaking up sunshine). All it provokes is an “awww!” response from your audience & the memory of your brand – or for that matter whose cat that was – is gone. Wasted opportunity. This is picture-taking season, with all the plants bursting forth & the sunshine strong in the sky. Skintones & smiles look better in fresh air & sunshine too.
