Visual Design

I am big on visuals, let me tell you. That whole phrase, “a picture’s worth a thousand words” definitely rings true with me & I would add “a thousand thoughts” as well.

As a photographer I yearn to capture just the right moment, the right expression to communicate a feeling, which is the basis of messaging. Think about a message that resonated with you or challenged your belief system, or made you feel something that made you receptive to the concept about to be conveyed. It can be words, but often it starts with a picture.

As a designer I love the look of a great layout (on paper, on the web, on a page), a nest that holds a flow of information, & like pictures, design can provoke & capture attention & assist the viewer in receiving the message.

As a branding agent I’m strong on seeking out the right small elements (colour, typeface, shape & visuals) to reinforce all that brandizing that took place  in getting to a (philosophical) brand in the first place. {Remember the moniker that your brand is more than these things; this is the frosting.}

I think creating good visuals – good pictures, good design, good-looking & functioning websites – can do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to communicating with your people, & so should be carefully chosen, carefully crafted.
